Summer humidity and heat can lead to trapped perspiration, clogged pores and blemishes.

Acne is the most common skin disorder in the world, effecting both men and women of all races and ages, and it can often have a deep emotional and psychological effect on people. For most people acne clears up after adolescence, and many have no noticeable scars. For others, acne can last well into their 30s, 40s and beyond.

Facial acne can be embarrassing as it is hard to conceal, while body acne can be tougher to treat. Human skin- especially on the face, neck, back, and chest- is covered in thousands of microscopic hair follicles, often called pores. These follicles sometimes over-produce cells and become blocked. Sebum (oil) which normally drains to the surface gets trapped and bacteria begins to grow.

Brand New from Dr. Asarch’s DERMAspaRx line!

Clear Away Clay

Acne and skin diseases are notoriously difficult to treat, and many frustrated people resort to simply concealing unsightly blemishes with excessive makeup or other quick fixes. Sea Buckthorn berry oil carries anti-inflammatory agents that reduce disease, plus large quantities of skin-nourishing vitamins that promote good health.

Our new soothing complexion mask contains natural Sea Buckthorn and Sunflower extracts which help reduce redness, with additional ingredients to deep clean, clear pores and aid in both preventing breakouts and evening out skin tone.

Summer Acne

Humidity, perspiration and tight fitting clothes can combine to lead to body acne. The trapped perspiration and rubbing against the skin leads to clogged pores and blemishes. Body acne can be more resistant to treatment than facial acne because it is more difficult to reach and to keep clean. However, treating acne on the face and body are similar.

Adult Acne can be treated successfully if two basic conditions are addressed.

  1. Prevent the oil gland openings from plugging up.
  2. Decrease the bacteria that live in the “plugs” that ultimately lead to inflammation.

For Body Acne:

Pay special attention to the skin trapped beneath clothing items like sweatbands and hats, as these can increase the plugging of your oil glands. Wear loose  clothing when you anticipate sweating, such as while exercising or spending time outdoors in the summer.

For Facial Acne:

Try using a regimen of products addressing oily and acne prone skin to help prevent plugged oil glands.

More severe acne may require a prescription. Many prescribed medications effectively control plugged oil glands- e.g. Retin-A, Azelex, Differin or Tazorac. Overgrowth of bacteria in the plugged oil glands can be prevented with antibacterial lotions, gels, creams or oral antibiotics. In severe cases the use of a medication, Accutane, may be prescribed. This medication is a Vitamin A derivative and works well, however needs to be monitored closely because of occasional side effects which your doctor should discuss with you.
