Lentigo

What is Lentigo?

Lentigo is an extremely common skin condition that we see and treat at the Asarch Center. Lentigo is another term for “age spot” or “liver spot”.

What Causes Lentigo (Plural Lentigines)?

Lentigo are caused by UV exposure and most commonly appear on the sun-exposed skin of the head and neck, nose and cheek. Pigment producing cells (melanocytes) in our skin typically overproduce pigment leading to these raised, flat, brown “liver spots” or “age spots”.

How Is Lentigo Treated?

These pigmented spots can be lightened with prescription topical agents and/or successfully removed in our office with an Intensed Pulsed Light Treatment.
