Laser Hair Removal
If you are tired of shaving, tweezing and waxing to remove unwanted hair, laser hair removal may be the option for you. Laser Hair Removal is a procedure that beams highly concentrated light into the hair follicles destroying the hair and leaving you with smooth skin. At the Asarch Center and DERMAspa, we are pleased offer permanent hair reduction with the Palomar Icon Laser.
What is Laser Hair Removal?
This non-invasive procedure utilizes highly concentrated light to penetrate hair follicles. The intense heat of the laser damages the hair follicle to inhibit future hair growth. Laser hair removal can be done on most parts of the body.
What Areas Are Treated With Laser Hair Removal?
Laser Hair Removal is ideal for removing unwanted hair from the
- bikini line
- chest and other areas
How Does It Work?
We use light-based permanent hair reduction, so just a few simple treatments are all it takes to permanently minimize hair growth, revealing clear, silky skin that’s ready to bare every day–and all year long. The FDA-cleared, light-based technology can selectively target dark, coarse hairs and destroy the cells responsible for hair growth without harming surrounding skin.
Unlike shaving that lasts days, waxing that needs to be repeated every few weeks indefinitely or electrolysis that’s tedious, permanent hair reduction is a lasting solution that takes away the everyday hassle of dealing with unwanted facial and body hair.
Does It Hurt?
Most patients describe a slight, momentary “snap”, like that of a rubber band, at the treatment site. You can resume regular activities immediately after treatment.
How Long Does the Procedure Take?
Each pulse of the laser takes a fraction of a second and can treat many hairs at the same time. The laser can treat an area approximately the size of a quarter every second. Small areas such as the upper lip can be treated in less than a minute, and large areas, such as the back or legs, may take up to an hour.
What Results Can I Expect?
Laser hair removal treatments slow hair growth and provide significant hair reduction, but do not guarantee permanent hair removal. The treatment affects actively growing hair follicles, so it may take several laser hair removal treatments to provide the desired results. Future treatments to maintain hair loss may be needed.
What Are the Possible Side Effects?
Some side effects at the treatment site are possible, but are usually temporary and can be discussed during your consultation.
- Slight redness of the skin
- Mild swelling where laser treatment is performed
- Temporary pigment changes may occur, especially in those with darker skin.
- Temporary irritation
