What is the difference between a facial filler and Botox?
Unlike Botox, injections that relax the muscle under a wrinkle, facial fillers fill in the line or crease of wrinkles with one of several different substances. Doctors use fillers like hyaluronic acid, calcium hydroxyl apatite, human engineered collagen, your own fat, or bio-polymer hybrids to soften deep lines.

These “expression lines”, which can show up on your forehead, between your eyebrows, and around your eyes and mouth, are due to the contraction of a muscle under the skin in that area. BOTOX is a purified protein toxin which has no serious side effects when used correctly in a medical setting. A few drops of BOTOX are injected with a tiny needle into the muscle that creates a wrinkle. When BOTOX is injected into a muscle, it blocks the nerve impulse from reaching that area, and, as a result, the muscle weakens. As the muscle weakens, the skin overlying the muscle relaxes and the wrinkles in the skin gradually soften and often disappear. The results last about three months.
