Fractional Laser

Many of the signs of aging from fine lines and wrinkles to age spots can be addressed with skin resurfacing. Advances in fractional laser technologies now give your doctor an improved level of control, permitting extreme precision, especially in delicate areas. Fractional lasers can produce younger looking skin with little downtime. At the Asarch Center, we offer fractional laser treatments for skin resurfacing and rejuvenation which target small areas, leaving surrounding areas untouched.

Consider Fractional Laser Resurfacing to:

  • Minimize fine lines or wrinkles around or under your eyes, forehead or mouth
  • Reduce the appearance of acne scars
  • Revitalize aged or sun-damaged skin
  • Diminish age and liver spots
  • Reduce enlarged oil glands

What is Fractional Laser?

Fractional laser skin resurfacing is an effective way to produce younger looking and fairer skin while at the same time minimizing risk and reducing downtime.

How Does It Work?

Fractional laser wrinkle reduction involves the use of a laser beam that travels through the top layer of skin and interacts only with the second layer of skin, or the dermis. Fractional Lasers allow physicians to “paint away” lines, wrinkles, sun-damaged or aging skin with their pinpoint precision laser technology in both area and depth. These microbeams deliver high intensity beams of light that “vaporize” columns of epidermis and dermis leaving areas of treated tissue that are surrounded by healthy untreated tissue. Fractional laser treatments help remove surface imperfections and significantly reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Why Fractional Laser?

Patients looking for dramatic, permanent changes in their skin often choose resurfacing. They come away amazed at their dewy, new-looking skin. Healing time varies depending on which type of laser resurfacing is performed. The laser peels off years of sun-damaged skin. It  removes wrinkled skin layer by layer, stimulating the regeneration of the deeper healthier skin.  Unlike dermabrasion and chemical peels, lasers use high-energy beams of light to vaporize scars, lines, wrinkles, sun damaged skin, and tightens collagen without an invasive face-lift.

The Benefits of Laser Resurfacing:

  • Removing damaged cells
  • Tightening the underlying collagen.

The Cosmetic Benefits Include:

  • It noticeably reduces deeply-wrinkled skin without invasive, scalpel procedures
  • It smooths crow’s feet around eyes
  • It vaporizes high ridges of wrinkles
  • It makes skin much smoother
  • It diminishes and often removes the lines around the mouth that cause lipstick to “bleed”
  • It improves acne scars
  • It stimulates the deeper layers of skin, making it healthier and younger looking
  • It gets rid of unwanted skin conditions instantly.

What Are the Common Areas Treated With Fractional Laser?

The use of this micro fractional laser technology allows efficient management of various conditions including wrinkles, acne and acne scars, melasma (pregnancy mask), various forms of striae (stretch marks), sun damage, unsightly textural irregularities, and even blotchy skin on virtually any part of the patient’s body.  Fractional lasers address the symptoms of skin aging by stimulating the regeneration of collagen from the deeper layers of the skin. This procedure has yielded faster healing time and a reduced risk of scarring and loss of pigmentation that are usually associated with the use of CO2 Lasers.

What Should I Expect After Treatment?

Immediately following the procedure, the patient will experience significant pealing of the treatment areas within 2 to 3 days, followed by residual pinkness or redness that rapidly fades over the next 5 to 7 days. It has been documented that the appearance of scars, lines, wrinkles, and other skin defects improved gradually over the next several months. Using fractional laser for skin resurfacing is a gentle, noninvasive technique with improved comfort both during and after the procedure, and has improved healing time that helps to hasten the patient’s return to normal routine.

  • No post operative wound to attend to
  • No post-treatment evidence of procedure
  • It is noninvasive
  • The patient can immediately resume normal activities
  • It is an outpatient procedure.

Am I a Good Candidate?

Fractional Laser may not be the best choice if you have:

  • Active acne
  • Very dark skin
  • Deep wrinkles
  • Excessive or sagging skin

Patients with darker skin tones have a greater risk of developing hyperpigmentation following treatment.

What Are the Potential Side Effects?

Most patients will experience redness and swelling like a sunburn for the first week. After the initial phase, your skin will start to peel revealing the healthy, new skin. Talk to your doctor about all possible side effects and risks prior to treatment.
