Ever wonder what can be done about loose, sagging skin on the abdomen, arms, thighs, or buttocks? Until recently, the only option for improving the appearance of these areas was painful, expensive surgery with weeks of recovery time. Surgery that involves risks and unsightly scars.

Enter the era of Thermage. Body treatments using Thermage can lift and tighten skin that becomes loose as a result of weight loss, post pregnancy, or gravity. Best of all, Thermage can be done in the office with little discomfort, no downtime, and no scarring.

Thermage works by causing heat in the deepest layers of the skin. Imagine a sweater that has lost its shape with repeated wearing and washing. To get that sweater to shrink down and fit better, you’d throw it in the dryer. Similarly, Thermage, a radiofrequency device creates deep heating in the skin while cooling the surface of the skin. That heat causes contraction of the underlying collagen, which immediately tightens the skin. Over 3-6 months time, the skin creates more collagen in response to the thermal injury. The result is a tauter, more sculpted appearance.

At the Asarch Center, we employ a sophisticated technique tailored to each patient and their personal needs. Depending on the body area treated, Thermage takes only a couple of hours, leaving no visible marks on the skin. Most patients will see and feel immediate results without any recovery time.

If you have been dreading that swim suit, vacation getaway, or clothes shopping spree because of a troublesome body part, don’t wait any longer. Call the Asarch Center today and see what positive changes we can make for you.

Frequently Asked Questions about the Thermage Procedure

What are the results really like?

The results can vary from individual to individual and depend on a number of factors including age, the area treated, the amount of laxity in the skin, and how well a patient's skin responds. Some patients see improvement within a few days, but for most people, the results become apparent over a period of three to five months. The level of improvement also varies, and will range from little or no improvement to dramatic difference. Photographs are taken before the procedure so that, over time, the benefits of the treatment can be measured by both patients and medical staff.

How does the technology work?

The ThermaCool TC System was developed to tighten skin without surgery. The radio frequencies produced by the system heat the tissue below the surface of the skin's surface. This heat causes contraction of the underlying collagen fibers and also releases growth factors. Since there is no damage to the top layer of the skin, patients can return to normal activity immediately.

What are the treatments like? Do I need anesthesia?

The areas to be treated will be numbed first using a topical cream or gel. This is applied approximately 30-40 minutes before the procedure is performed. Instructions and the topical medication will be given to you. The treatment is performed in small squares over the desire area(s). The anesthetic cream is used since the heat produced by the system causes some discomfort.

How long does the treatment take?

The length of time required for the procedure depends on the size of the areas to be treated. Usually 30 to 45 minutes is required.

Will I need a second treatment?

Some patients may require more than one treatment to achieve the desired results. However, because the results takes months to completely manifest themselves, additional treatments are not performed until at least 3 to 4 months have passed. During this period of time, your skin is producing new collagen and it is best to wait for this to occur before repeating treatments. Physicians at the Asarch Center or dermaSpa will discuss this option with patients during their follow up visits.

When can I go back to work?

Most patients can resume their normal activities right away. Some patients may see some redness that generally disappears within a few hours. Rarely, a patient may see some small blisters or crusting which disappears in a few days.
